Beliefs

Faith Lutheran Church  is a congregation of the The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.  As such she believes the Holy Scriptures to be the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the only norm for faith and life.  She believes, teaches, and confesses that the doctrine of the three ecumenical Creeds and the Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (contained in the Book of Concord of 1580) are a true exposition of that Word.  She is “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the Cornerstone.” (Ephesians 2:20)   

In accordance with the Word of God, Faith Lutheran Church confesses that Jesus Christ – both true God and true man – died on a cross for our sins and rose from the dead, and that through faith in Him we receive the gifts of His forgiveness, life, and salvation, which He won for us in His death and resurrection.  Faith Lutheran Church believes that in the Divine Service the Lord Jesus Christ comes into our midst to give us His gifts through the Means of Grace: the Scripture, Holy Baptism, Holy Absolution, and the Lord’s Supper.  Through these Means the Holy Spirit works and sustains faith in Christ, so that we can serve as His instruments in sharing Christ with others.

As a Lutheran church Faith Lutheran Church is evangelical, because the Gospel – i.e., the Good News that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead – stands at the center of all that we believe and practice.  Faith Lutheran Church is also catholic (universal), because her belief and practice is a continuation of what the Church has believed and practiced throughout its history.
