Faith dedicates new stained glass baptismal window
On November 25, 2007, Faith Lutheran Church dedicated its new baptismal window. The window was installed on the glass over the doors leading from the Narthex into the Nave.
The window actually came about in large part because of the video on Holy Baptism entitled Baptism: The Journey to Life in Christ. The district did not have the funding at the time to produce the video. A member of Faith stepped forward to fund the project and then gave the copyrights of the video to the chruch. Funds from the video were designated to go toward the new stained glass.
Brad Butler of Butler Fine Art Glass worked with the church to design and construct the window. The main display of the glass came out of Martin Luther's baptismal prayer, better known as his "Flood Prayer." Along with the Flood Prayer, the work contains some of our baptismal hymns and various scripture readings from the Easter Vigil.
In this space we see that "saving flood" and that "rich and full washing away of sins." It is at that font that all that is born in us from Adam (original sin) and all that we ourselves have added to it (actual sin) is drowned and engulfed, and we are "sundered from the number of the unbelieving" and "saved dry and secure in the holy ark of Christendom."
The aluminum cross pieces pull the entire window together into one work of three dimensional art.
We thank the many members that contributed to this project and made it a reality.
